System Modernization & Stabilisation

Modernize aging systems incrementally — re-architecture, cloud migration and cost control, without a stop-the-world rewrite.

Let's talk about your systemWe'll reply within a few days with a concrete proposal.

What we deliver

What this looks like in practice.

When an existing system is hard to change, fragile, or expensive to run, you rarely need a big-bang rewrite. We re-architect, re-platform and migrate in safe increments — improving reliability, scalability and cost while the business keeps shipping.

Architecture documentation

Component-level design, data-flow diagrams, security model. A document the team actually uses.

Cloud platform choice

Azure, AWS, GCP, or hybrid — recommendation matched to tech stack, competence, and cost.

Infrastructure-as-code foundations

Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation modules. Infrastructure lives in code, version-controlled.

Security architecture

IAM, network design, encryption at rest/transit, compliance (GDPR, possibly ISO/SOC2).

Cost analysis & optimisation

Where the money goes, where reserved instances pay off, where auto-scaling saves. With concrete numbers.

Migration plan

If a cloud or platform switch is needed — phased plan, risks, and rollback strategy.

When you need this

This is where we come in.

#01

Legacy system slowing delivery

Every change takes longer, releases are risky, and unsupported or tightly coupled components are holding the business back.

#02

Migration without business interruption

A platform, cloud or major component must change, but customers and internal operations cannot stop during the transition.

#03

Fragile or expensive operations

Incidents, manual deployments and infrastructure costs are growing. You need staged stabilisation before the next growth phase.

A concrete example

What an engagement looks like in practice.

Anonymised, illustrative project example.

Starting point

A Hungarian startup signed a contract with a major European retailer and had to scale their AWS platform.

Week 1

Discovery

Workshop with the CTO, traffic projections (peak rate), compliance (GDPR + retail audit), cost constraints.

Weeks 2–3

Architecture

Multi-region AWS architecture, RDS read replicas, ElastiCache, CDN. Cost model and security review.

Week 4

Document & roadmap

30+ page architecture document, Terraform modules, phased migration plan from the existing setup.

Ongoing

Implementation guidance

Their team builds; we run weekly review checkpoints (ADRs, design reviews). Launch after a few months.

Outcome

The platform scaled substantially, costs stayed under control, and the deploy process became markedly faster.

FAQ

Common questions

What do you need to know to design an architecture?

The discovery workshop (1 week) covers business goals, expected traffic and user volumes, security and compliance requirements, cost constraints, and your team's tech competence.

How do you decide which cloud platform is right?

Typically based on existing tech stack, team competence, cost, and specific service requirements (e.g., compliance, regions). Usually Azure, AWS, or GCP — we have senior experience in all three.

Do we use infrastructure-as-code from day one?

Yes — for any serious cloud setup IaC is the baseline. The discovery and architecture design already provide IaC-module breakdowns so implementation is faster and safer.

Who implements what you design?

Either your team — with our guidance (reviews, ADRs) — or we build the IaC foundations too. Both options work; depends on scope.

Get in touch

Let's understand the problem before we build the solution.

Tell us whether an existing business-critical system is holding you back or you are creating a new complex platform. In a 30-minute conversation we identify the right first engagement and whether we are a fit.

Best fit: multiple roles or tenants, critical integrations, sensitive data, complex business logic, long-term evolution, or direct business impact when the system is unavailable.
